Not sure if I would like this series or not, I started skimming through the first chapter of “Delirium”… then soon found myself curled up on a chair, engrossed in the story. It has one of those memorable plot lines that sticks with you long after you’ve finished. I highly recommend these if you enjoyed the “Matched” trilogy by Ally Condie or even “Divergent” by Veronica Roth. Coming Soon: Bloodfire Quest

Mar 19..Title: Bloodfire Quest

Series: The Dark Legacy of Shannara #2

Author: Terry Brooks

Release Date: March 12, 2013

Of all the major fantasy authors I try to keep up with I have probably fallen the farthest behind with Terry Brooks. His stories are alway highly entertaining and epic and I feel like he does a great job channeling the feel of “The Lord of the Rings” while still keeping things exciting. I look forward to catching up, but for all you eagerly waiting for the next book: only three months to go! :)

Coming Soon: Clockwork Princess

Mar 19Title: Clockwork Princess

Series: Infernal Devices #3

Author: Cassandra Clare

Release Date: March 19, 2013

Actually my favorite of Cassandra Clare’s works, the Infernal Devices trilogy is an excellent steampunk, mystery, teen romance that was a lot of fun to read. “Clockwork Princess” is supposed to be the final book, but she said that about the Immortals trilogy and those are still being released. As much as I would enjoy reading more about these characters, I’m pretty excited to find out how it all ends!

Book Review: Wings by Aprilynne Pike

Title: Wings

Author: Aprilynne Pike

Series: Wings #1

Rating: 3.5/5 stars

The Overview: Laurel was mesmerized, staring at the pale things with wide eyes. They were terrifyingly beautiful—too beautiful for words. Laurel turned to the mirror again, her eyes on the hovering petals that floated beside her head. They looked almost like wings.

In this extraordinary tale of magic and intrigue, romance and danger, everything you thought you knew about faeries will be changed forever.

The Review:

As I’ve mentioned before, teen romances have a way of sounding alike, so I am always impressed when an author manages to deliver original elements to go along with the ever-present love triangle. The story is a clever interpretation of Arthurian lore, particularly that involving the fae. Although in this version, the fae aren’t just one with nature, they are nature – beings who are actually plants at the cellular level. It was a really cool idea that the author took further by developing an entire world with hierarchy’s involving each “season” of fairy.

I really appreciated all that originality and world-building, but you really don’t find out much  about that stuff until some of the later books. The first novel seemed more like a set-up book for greater things to come and read like any other average teen romance novel (hence the lower rating). The entire series, however, was pretty magical, earning a solid 4/5 stars. I recommend it for those wanting a good wholesome love story because even though it was typical, it was still really sweet.
