Aprilynne Pike has always had a knack for telling lovely stories. My first introduction to her was her Wings series which was sweet and delightful. Glitter, on the other hand, seems to have a lot more grit. Like WAY more. And I have to admit I’m really intrigued. I won’t normally pick books that deal with drug use, preferring to read about dragons and whatnot, but I will definitely be checking out Glitter when it comes out in October. It won’t be the highest on my priority list, but I’d still like to read it just the same.

Book 5 (Nemesis Games) might have been the best book yet, which is extremely exciting for the longevity of this series. It’s one of my favorites because of the great characters, fantastic writing, and fast-paced storytelling. Maybe you’ve seen The Expanse series on the Sci-Fi channel? That show is based on these books (and I have to say I think they did an excellent job keeping it true to the original story – much love!). Overall, this is one of those series I drop everything to pick up when a new one comes out. Is November here yet?! ;-)

The Naturals series very quickly became my favorite teen fiction read, as I was hooked right from the very first chapter (and have completely devoured every one since)! It’s just such a smart series – involving teenagers naturally gifted with different skills that make them ideal candidates for solving crime. Cassie, the main character, can accurately predict things about people just by analyzing their appearance and mannerisms. Each book was absorbing, intense, and entirely fascinating, and I imagine the final book will be just as amazing. You’d better believe I’m dropping everything to read Bad Blood the day it comes out! :D

Okay, I’ll admit I’m not totally caught up with the series, but I will be by the time October rolls around! I really liked the first book (Young Elites) and it reminded me very strongly of the bits I liked from Throne of Glass. It has an atypical heroine and a great concept, and I got the feeling it was only going to get better. And for the record, I also loved Marie Lu’s Legend Trilogy, so I imagine the remainder of this series will be just as good!

Carson’s Girl of Fire and Thorns trilogy is my all time favorite teen fantasy series, and I have to say, even though the Walk on Earth a Stranger leaned more towards historical fiction than fantasy, I enjoyed it immensely. This author writes amazing characters, compelling plot lines, and completely immerses her readers into the stories. I have no doubt Like a River Glorious will be just as good – September 27th can’t come too soon!

What’s that, you say? The final Symphony of Ages book is on its way? Well, it’s about time! :-)

I feel like I’ve been reading and rereading this series for half my life, so it’s nice to finally have a conclusion in sight (I was being facetious, but I think I first read Rhapsody when I was 16… I’m 30 now, so I literally HAVE been reading this series for half my life… weird). There certain things about The Symphony of Ages that make it super brilliant and memorable, and others that make it very difficult to recommend with confidence. I have to say, book 8 (The Hollow Queen) was my least favorite of the series so far (too much dialogue and recap, not enough plot advancement, and the resolution of a major conflict that was very anti-climatic). Because of that, I’m a little wary of what the end might bring – hopefully it will be every bit worth the long wait.
