Over the last several years, my reading habits have been heavily skewed towards YA books. I figured now would be as good a time as any to compose a Top Ten of my favorites. While composing this post, however, I had a major epiphany. You see, while there are many books from this genre that I enjoyed, there are very few that I absolutely LOVED. This is a stark contrast to the Top Ten Fantasies list I composed where I had a difficult time narrowing it down from the 20+ series that totally rocked my world. Evidently, I’ve been focusing on the wrong genre. Nonetheless, I did manage to figure out which YA books were the cream of the crop:
Top Ten Young Adult Books!
- Bloodlines by Richelle Mead
- Hex Hall by Rachel Hawkins
- Partials by Dan Wells
- The Selection by Kiera Cass
- Graceling by Kristin Cashore
- The Naturals by Jennifer Lynn Barnes
- Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins
- All Our Yesterdays by Cristin Terrill
- Alienated by Melissa Landers
- Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead
What books would make your Top YA list?
Most of these I haven’t read, but I did read and enjoy Graceling, Fire, and Bitterblue. I liked the way they all tied together, without being true sequels.

My list is kind of obscure, ha ha. I will say I do wish I had enjoyed Fire and Bitterblue as much as Graceling. I thought they were good books, but I saw places where I thought they could’ve been better.

Awesome list! I have read: bloodlines, Hunger Games & Vampire Academy.
I still really want to read: Hex Hall, Selection, All our Yesterdays & Alienated!
I just didn’t have time to participate this week. Oh well!
Happy reading!!!

Thank you! The Richelle Mead ones are probably my favorites on the list, so I’m glad you’ve read those already. :-) I think the next one you should pick up is Hex Hall because it has a lot of great paranormal elements.
