This weeks Post was supposed to be along the lines of must-read titles that other people have told me about. Because I haven’t yet read many of the titles that made that list (and therefore can’t personally vouch for their awesomeness) I decided to take a spin on the topic and present my own list of must-reads. I realize this must look similar to many of my other lists, but I just can’t can’t seem to stop raving about my all-time favorite titles. Now, of course, this list is only helpful if you’re a speculative fiction fanatic like me. ;)
Niki’s Top Twelve Must-Read Books:
Fantasy:
Science Fiction (specifically Space Opera):
Young Adult:
Urban Fantasy:
These titles have all earned their spots in my favorites list and are usually the first books I recommend to new readers of their given genre.
What books would make your list?
The Kim Harrison books are also on my list. I haven’t heard of the Moon Called books–but I think they’re going to end up there too. :)

I like Assassin’s Apprentice; Survival is great (and I was amused by the oft-repeated complaint from the protagonist’s friend Emily — “There’s no sex in this book!” — because I cannot help but think the author herself was commenting on readers who demand lots of sex scenes in every single book they read); Grimspace looks quite interesting, and I think I may go buy a copy later today.
Books that would make my “must read” list… Falcon, by Emma Bull; A Civil Campaign, by Lois McMaster Bujold; This Alien Shore, by C. S. Friedman… I could probably think of several other books to add to this list, but these are the ones that always come to mind immediately.

I loved The Name Of The wind too, such an awesome book! Probably my favourite High Fantasy of all time!
