It’s once again time for my favorite feature: Tackling the TBR! There’s nothing I love more than picking out which books to read next, and this slightly organized method of reading has really amped my enjoyment to the next level. Bring on the mantras!
Read the best books first.
&
Life is too short to read books you’re not enjoying.
However you put together your TBR for the next month, the goal is to reduce the amount of obligation in reading and increase the fun.
Here’s a look at how the system works:
1. Identify the titles that take top priority in your TBR.
2. Combine them all in your own Tackling the TBR post.
3. Throughout the month pick from that pile as the mood strikes you.
Here’s what mine looks like:
September 2016 TBR Tackler Shelf:
- Elite by Mercedes Lackey
- Like a River Glorious by Rae Carson
- Queen of Fire by Anthony Ryan
- Reboot by Amy Tintera
- The Fixer by Jennifer Lynn Barnes
- Rebel by Amy Tintera
- No Good Dragon Goes Unpunished by Rachel Aaron
- Bloodrose by Andrea Cremer
- Zeroes by Scott Westerfeld
- The Drafter by Kim Harrison
I have them listed in order of priority, and Elite by Mercedes Lackey is definitely the book I’m most looking forward to reading – Hunter was amazing! I’m also super eager to pick up Queen of Fire by Anthony Ryan because I absolutely loved the first two in the series and can’t wait to see how it ends (it might be one of my new all-time favorite fantasies… It’s that good).
Feel free to share your versions of how you manage your TBR pile (and the links to your posts if applicable) in the comments. Maybe we can help make each other’s systems even better. :)
What books are you Tackling this month?
My husband just finished Elite and LOVED it. Can’t wait to hear what you think of it. Good luck with the TBR!

That’s awesome!! I’m so glad to hear – I’m about a third of the way through it and am loving it, but it’s always great to know it stays awesome the entire way through. Thanks! :)
