It’s once again time for my favorite feature: Tackling the TBR! There’s nothing I love more than picking out which books to read next, and this slightly organized method of reading has really amped my enjoyment to the next level. Bring on the mantras!
Read the best books first.
&
Life is too short to read books you’re not enjoying.
However you put together your TBR for the next month, the goal is to reduce the amount of obligation in reading and increase the fun.
Here’s a look at how the system works:
1. Identify the titles that take top priority in your TBR.
2. Combine them all in your own Tackling the TBR post.
3. Throughout the month pick from that pile as the mood strikes you.
Here’s what mine looks like:
September 2019 TBR Tackler Shelf:
Priority Titles!!!
- Turning Darkness Into Light by Marie Brennan
- Sapphire Flames by Ilona Andrews
- Sins of Empire by Brian McClellan
- Part-Time Gods by Rachel Aaron
- Skyward by Brandon Sanderson
The Reserve…
- Bitter Blood by Rachel Caine
- Soulbinder by Sebastien de Castell
- Deadhouse Gates by Steven Erikson
- Holy Sister by Mark Lawrence
- Eye of the Labyrinth by Jennifer Fallon
- Before They are Hanged by Joe Abercrombie
- Bloody Rose by Nicholas Eames
- Aurora Rising by Amie Kaufman & Jay Kristoff
- Guardian by A.J. Hartley
- Frostbitten by Kelley Armstrong
Last month I had a positive shift in my reading momentum. I didn’t necessarily finish more books (I read some much longer ones), but I found myself choosing books over other activities with a frequency I haven’t seen in almost a year. This month my top priorities list is 100% a complete indulgence list! It’s all the titles I’m truly most excited to read but have been saving for “rainy days,” and I can’t tell you which of the list I’m most excited for! :)
Have a great month in reading!
Skyward and Aurora Rising were so good! Hope you enjoy them 😁

I’ll admit I’ve been looking for something new lately, as a long time sci-fi fan it seems like I keep re-reading the same story-lines by different authors. Do you know what I mean? Fortunately, I saw a rec for “Two Skies Before Night,” which claimed to merge a crime/murder/thriller story-line with more classic science fiction concepts and I was ready to give it a shot and I am SO glad I did. The author, Robert Gryn, detailed the people and the world in stunning detail. I could visualize every character and scene while reading, bringing the story to life in my mind. He has a strong science fiction background, so he’s not new on the scene, just ballsy enough to try something different and I appreciate it a lot. I definitely recommend. http://www.robertgrynbooks.com/

I’ll admit that for a promotional plug, this is one of the most conversational I’ve ever seen. Kudos.
