Kim Harrison has quickly become one of my favorite authors! She never lets me down, and in fact gets better with every new book (although I’m always perplexed how she can continually improve on outstanding). I have to say, I’m not caught up with this series because I’ve been deliberately reading them slowly – savoring every last page. I dread the day I don’t have a Harrison to read when I need a guaranteed good book. If you like urban fantasy and haven’t given this one a try, you’re sorely missing out!

The other day I was trying to figure out which sequel I’m most excited to read… with all of the amazing books coming out, it surprised me that I’m most looking forward to The One (even over Allegiant and Champion… I know, crazy!). I enjoyed every minute of The Selection, and am still incredibly eager to find out what happens next despite the fact that The Elite delivered an entirely different (although still good) type of story. I sincerely hope it doesn’t let me down, as I have a very long time to wait for it.

This series is perfect for fans of romantic (rather than edgy) dystopians.

The Mercy Thompson series is one of my all time favorites! I always devour the books as soon as they come out then spend a full year pining for the next one (as is the case here). They just hit the spot, and I’m confident this one will be every bit as good as the ones before it. If you’ve never given urban fantasy a try, Patricia Briggs is the author to start with!

I included Shatter Me in yesterday’s post (Top Ten Books at the Top of my Fall 2013 Reading List) because seeing the release for this third book takes me realize I’ve been putting it off much longer than I’d intended to. I’ve been seeing fantastic reviews for it almost nonstop for the past year and I want to go what everybody is excited about. Also, there is something sweet about picking up a series right is the final book is being published… No waiting!

Hosted by Breaking the Spine, Wednesday is the day to daydream about future releases. Since I’ve already featured all of my top upcoming releases (The Fiery Heart, Champion, Allegiant to name a few) I thought this week I would focus on a book that I am reasonably sure I would be excited for if I were caught up in the series. I love what I’ve read of Monk’s Allie Beckstrom series, and the idea of a spinoff with of male protagonist has me very excited. Because it’s a spinoff, the rules of the world are already established, which means the author can jump right into the action of the story… it bodes well, I’m just saying.
