The Obsessive Bookseller’s Top Ten Most-Anticipated 2020 Upcoming Releases!

The Obsessive Bookseller’s Top Ten Most-Anticipated 2020 Upcoming Releases!

There are a number of books I’m anticipating that don’t have release dates or covers yet, so here’s the abbreviated list of the most pending titles. In order of most important (left to right, top to bottom), I’m extremely excited for the newest Stormlight Archive (no surprise there). As it happens, I’ve already read Network Effect (amazing!), but I’d still love a copy for my collection. Don’t let the cheesy covers of the Ilona Andrews’ books throw you off – those are a ton of fun and easily my favorite urban fantasies (Kate Daniels rules). And can we talk a minute about the fact that Peace Talks is finally coming out?!!! OMG. Also, due in no small part to some publishing drama, Kim Harrison is releasing another novel continuing the story of Rachel Morgan (which ended already)(but it don’t care)(I love that series). The Betrothed is a wildcard because I loved The Selection (the first one) and the Siren, so I’m hoping I’ll still be able to enjoy that style (YA and I have NOT been friends lately). The upcoming Scott Lynch (Gentleman Bastards) deserves to be up here, but I don’t want to jinx it… Overall, an excellent lineup! :D

Top Three Thursday [3]: Top Three New Releases for the First Half of 2018?

Top Three New Releases for the First Half of 2018?

This is a new feature hosted by Fantasy Buddy Reads over at Goodreads. :)

Being a book lover wouldn’t be nearly as much fun without new releases on the horizon to look forward to. Although I’m anticipating many in 2018, these are the three titles at the top of my list:

Guardian is book three in the Alternate Detective series by A.J. Hartley. The covers are what first caught my attention, and then I was lucky enough to receive a copy of the second book from TOR Teen, and from there I was hooked! Everything about it screams originality to me, because I can’t say as though I’ve read anything quite like it before. I am eager to see what mystery unfolds next in this third book.

Starless is the latest from Jacqueline Carey, one of my all-time favorite authors (famous for her Kushiel Saga, which I love). It appears to be a stand-alone novel. I can’t wait to get back into this writer’s beautiful prose and immersive world building. She’s one of the most lovely writers I’ve ever read and I will continue to devour anything she chooses to write.

Nyxia Unleashed is the second book in Scott Reintgen’s Nyxia Triad series, and even I was surprised at how much I enjoyed the first book. It had great elements of competition and an interesting concept, and I think it’ll only get better as the series progresses.

Honorable Mentions: Burn Bright by Patricia Briggs (not included because I’ve already read it :D), Iron Gold by Pierce Brown, Last Dragon Standing by Rachel Aaron, and Child of a Mad God by R.A. Salvatore (currently reading).

Out This Month – Noteworthy Releases December 2013!

A dance of mirrors

One of my favorite things about working in the shipping department of a large bookstore was opening up boxes of new releases – it felt like Christmas all year round! So now that the holidays are actually upon us, here’s a look at some new and upcoming releases for the month:

I wish I could say I was excited to read any of these novels… The trouble is, I’m not caught up enough in the series to enjoy any of these this month but I will say the Gini Koch books always catch my attention.

New Releases: October 2013

I don’t know about all of you, but this month feels like the new release jackpot! The star being, of course, Allegiant – the conclusion to Veronica Roth’s Divergent series. I’m also super eager to read anything new by Ann Aguirre. Here’s a look at these noteworthy releases:

Out This Month – Noteworthy Releases July 2013

rrrThis is a sad book release month for me. Although most are from exceptional authors, I’m too far behind in their respective series for these releases to excited me. The only one I’m super eager to read is the next Mythos Academy novel by Jennifer Estep. The good news? July can now be devoted to my TBR pile (woot!).

Here’s a look at what’s coming out between now and the end of the month! I meant to post this at the beginning of the month. In any case, there are some really good books on the horizon!
